Secretariat Timor-Leste Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (TL-EITI) together with the Multi Stakeholder Group (MSG) consist of Government, Companies, Civil Society hold first meeting with His Excellency Minister of Petroleum and Minerals Resources Dr. Francisco da Costa Monteiro on October 24,2023, to update the implementation of the EITI in Timor-Leste particularly relate to the following issue such as : Tenderization and evaluation process for the Independent Administrator to reconcile and produce the up coming TL-EITI report 2021 & 2022 (letter of Invitation & ToR for IA). The panel have finalized the evaluation and the result will be announce, then continue discuss further the extension (article 7) letter due to delay to publishing the report, Dissemination activities (Lospalos & Betano Municipality), validation assessment result (fairly low score 58/100), create relevant law for the EITI, provide Fund for CSO for their operation cost, Capacity Building for MSG that will facilitate by IA Ernst & Young in regard to the EITI Standard 2019, Capacity Building for MSG relate to the new EITI Standard 2023 facilitate by EITI International Secretariat, and finally Capacity Building for civil Society Organization (CSO) the topic will be decide by CSO represent in MSG and the proposal for such us capacity will submit by NGO FONGTIL.
Members of MSG Timor-Leste that participated in the meeting consist of: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (chairperson), Ministry of Finance (Direção Nacional de Receitas Petrolíferas e Minerais (DNRPM) and Petroleum Fund (PF), Autoridade Nacional do Petróleo (ANP), Banco Central Timor-Leste, Woodside, Eni, Timor Resources, Sunda Gas, TIMOR GAP E.P, Sharis Haburas Comunidade, and Mata Dalan Institute.
Members of MSG that not participate in the meeting due to other commitment consist of SERVE, Trade Invest, Santos, and Luta Hamutuk.
57 countries have continue committed to implement the EITI include Timor-Leste to enhance transparency and accountability in countries that rich in natural resources (Oil, Gas and Minerals).
